RUTA ( Ruch Utopii, Transcendencji, Anarchii lub Reakcyjna Unia Terrorystyczno Artystowska ) is a Polish music project that combines historical peasant folk songs and traditional instruments of Polish folk music with elements of punk . The project was initiated by Maciej Szajkowski from Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa , who is supported by a large group of musicians from the Polish modern folklore scene as well as singers from the legendary punk groups Dezerter and Moskwa . The abbreviation RUTA stands for “Movement of Utopia, Transcendence and Anarchy” or “Reactive Terrorist-Artistic Association”. The group's publication is accompanied by detailed text supplements in which the historical background - the situation of the Polish , Ukrainian and Belarusian peasants in times of serfdom - of the songs is presented. The predominant theme of the songs is lament, rebellion and rebellion against the oppression resulting from serfdom.
The group's first album, Gore (“Es brennt”), contains songs from the Polish peasantry between the 16th and 20th centuries. On the second album, Na uschod (“Gen Osten”), traditional peasant songs from Ukraine , Russia and Belarus were interpreted, translated by Jacek Podsiadło.
