Antonio Lanfranchi (born May 17, 1946 in Grondone di Ferriere ; † February 17, 2015 in Modena ) was Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola .

Life

Antonio Lanfranchi was ordained a priest on November 4, 1971 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cesena-Sarsina on December 3, 2003 . The bishop of Piacenza-Bobbio , Luciano Monari , ordained him episcopal on January 11 of the following year ; Co-consecrators were Paolo Romeo , Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino , and Lino Esterino Garavaglia OFMCap , Old Bishop of Cesena-Sarsina. The inauguration in the diocese took place on January 25, 2003. As a motto he chose Christi simus non nostri .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola on January 27, 2010 and he was inducted into office on March 14 of the same year.

He died on February 17, 2015 after a long and serious illness in the University Hospital of Modena. Antonio Lanfranchi's funeral took place on February 19 of the same year under the direction of Carlo Cardinal Caffarra , Archbishop of Bologna .
