The RFC Seraing (not to be confused with the RFC Liège ) is a former Belgian football club from Seraing in the province of Liège .
history
The club was founded in 1900 as FC Seraing. In 1904 the association was officially registered with the Belgian association. In 1928 the club merged with FC Beausejour and was now called Royal FC Seraing. From 1982 to 1987 and from 1993 to 1996 the club played in the top Belgian league. The best placement in the first division was achieved by the club in the 1993/1994 season, in which they immediately achieved third place as a promoted player, which led to qualification for the 1994/95 UEFA Cup . However, they were eliminated in the first round against Dynamo Moscow . In 1994 the official name was also changed to RFC Seraing. Two years later, the club had to give up its game operations due to financial problems and merged with Standard Liège .
In 1996 a new club called RFC Seraing-RUL was founded, which was then renamed RFC Sérésien in 2013 . In 2014 he merged with the Charleroi Football Club . The club created by the merger was then renamed Racing Club Charleroi-Couillet-Fleurus , and the headquarters moved to Charleroi.
In 2015, the club had to face a FIFA proceeding because player transfer rules might have been broken with the help of the Maltese sports rights marketer Doyen Sports . He was sentenced to a fine of 150,000 CHF and a four-year transfer ban, which was reversed in an appeal. The case was negotiated several times at the CAS and at the Brussels Court of Appeal, as it was about rules of principle relating to third party property rights (TPO).
