René Taelman

René Taelman (born May 5, 1945 in Auderghem / Oudergem , † August 13, 2019 ) was a Belgian football coach .

Coaching career

Taelman initially worked as a sports journalist and as a football player was only active in the amateur field. His first positions as a coach were the youth of his home club US Auderghem and the amateur club FC Saint-Michel . In the professional field, he trained the Belgian clubs Eendracht Aalst , RFC Seraing and Cercle Bruges .

He spent most of his coaching career in Africa and the Middle East. Among other things, he was national coach of Benin and the national team of Burkina Faso , with whom he took part in the Africa Cup of 2000 . In addition, he coached numerous club teams such as Olympique Casablanca from Morocco and JS Kabylie from Algeria .
