Raza Microelectronics (short: RMI) is a privately held company that develops processors . The company was founded in 2002 by Atiq Raza , founder of NexGen and former COO of AMD , and is headquartered in Cupertino , California . In December 2007, the company name was changed from Raza Microelectronics to RMI Corporation . In 2008, RMI merged was merged with NetLogic Microsystems, and the resulting company was acquired by Broadcom in 2012 .
Partnership with AMD
On June 13, 2006, RMI and AMD entered into a strategic partnership that includes the transfer of the Alchemy processor family from AMD to RMI. Accordingly, RMI will be responsible for the further development of the Alchemy family in the future, while AMD will continue to sell the processors under its own name.
