The RWD-10 was a Polish training and sport aircraft developed in the 1930s by the Warsaw manufacturer RWD for the country's flying clubs.

development

Jerzy Drzewiecki and Stanisław Rogalski were responsible for the design, the third member of the RWD development group Stanisław Wigura was killed in September 1932 when an RWD-6 crashed . The prototype with the registration number SP – ALC was tested from July 1933 and revealed some shortcomings that made some improvements necessary and delayed state approval until 1936. But then there was an order for 20 RWD-10s, which were delivered to the Polish flying clubs by 1937. In 1938, two more copies were launched, making a total of 23 RWD-10s including the prototype.

construction

The RWD-10 was a stripped high- wing aircraft in composite construction . The fuselage with a rectangular cross-section consisted of welded steel pipes, wooden moldings and fabric covering. The top and bottom were rounded. A wooden frame with two spars formed the wing , which was connected to the fuselage by a canopy and two parallel struts crossed with wire on each side. It tapered in depth towards the fuselage and had plywood planking from the front edge to the first spar and fabric covering behind it. The normal tail was made of wood with plywood-clad fins. Elevator and rudder were covered with fabric and were operated by control cables running along the outside of the fuselage. The chassis consisted of two oil-air damped main wheels with brakes and a grinding spur at the rear.
