Elisabeth Dickmann

Elisabeth Dickmann (* 1937 in Marburg ) is a German historian .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1957, Dickmann trained as a qualified librarian at academic libraries in Marburg and Frankfurt / Main from 1957 to 1959 and studied history, art history and sociology in Marburg and at the Free University of Berlin from 1963 to 1969 . In 1969 she passed the master's examination at the Free University of Berlin. In 1970 she received a doctoral scholarship from the DAAD in Rome and in 1971 a doctoral scholarship from the State of Hesse . In 1982 she submitted her dissertation at the University of Bremen under the title The Reception of Giuseppe Mazzini in Italian Fascism . From 1972 to 1985 she worked as a subject librarian and department head at the University Library in Bremen and from 1985 to 2002 as a research assistant with research and teaching tasks in the history and Italian studies courses at the University of Bremen. In 1996 she founded the Hedwig Hintze Institute in Bremen with Eva Schöck-Quinteros, where she has been managing director from 1996 to the present day. She is also on the board of the Hedwig Hintze Society for Historical Research and Education eV Bremen. In 1985 she founded CRESCENDO for the next generation of musicians. Association for the Promotion of Young Musicians eV Bremen , which she led until its dissolution in 2019.
