Raúl Fernando Sendic
Raúl Fernando Sendic Rodríguez (born August 29, 1962 in Paysandú ) is a Uruguayan politician and former Vice President.
Sendic was born as the son of the former guerrilla warrior and politician Raúl Sendic in Paysandú.
He was elected in the 1999 elections as a member of Movimiento 26 de Marzo , which was part of the Frente Amplio alliance , for the Montevideo district in the Chamber of Deputies , of which he was a member until 2005. That year he was appointed Vice President of the Administración Nacional de Combustibles, Alcohol y Portland (ANCAP), a state-owned company that also operates in the oil business. From 2008 to 2009 and from 2010 to 2013 he was its president. In between, he was Minister of Industry in President Tabaré Vázquez's cabinet for a few months (August 31, 2009 to March 1, 2010). In the 2014 elections , he was in the Senate elected and took over on 1 March 2015, the Senate presidency and he was so Vice President of Uruguay in the second term of Vázquez.
In September 2017, he resigned on allegations of corruption from his time at ANCAP following the decision of a party court of the Frente Amplio against him.
