Raban Ruddigkeit (born May 15, 1968 in Leipzig ) is a German illustrator , designer , editor and author .

Raban Ruddigkeit is a son of the painter Frank Ruddigkeit and the Germanist Heidi Ruddigkeit (née Hupfer). After his apprenticeship as an offset printer (1984–1986) he spent his time a. a. as an intern in the painting room of the Leipzig theater. He was co-founder and first art director of the Messitsch fanzine . After the fall of the wall, he was involved in various media initiatives for which he also worked as a designer (DAZ, ​​Connewitzer Kreuzer, Kreuzer). In 1991 he was editor-in-chief of the Kreuzer , which appeared as a supplement to the DAZ and from which the city magazine Kreuzer emerged . In addition, he drew comics ( Marcel Mauer-Blüm and the talking skateboard ), illustrated books ( Men of Crime ) and developed posters and designs for culture and business under the pseudonym “The Raven” .

In 1996 he went to Berlin, where he initially worked for the advertising agency Scholz & Friends, before becoming self-employed again . In addition to working for agencies (including Jung von Matt Main, Wächter & Wächter Munich) and magazines ( Das Magazin ), he was also successful as a developer of corporate designs. After a few years in Frankfurt / Main and Munich, he returned to Berlin in 2008, where he founded his own studio. Here he combines the experience as a designer with the conceptual strengths of marketing. Raban Ruddigkeit has won more than 150 national and international awards. In 2012 Ruddigkeits Atelier was named "Rookie Agency Of The Year" by the Art Directors Club für Deutschland eV . In 2016, his weekly visual column in Der Tagesspiegel was named Illustration of the Year by the Lead Academy.

Several publications have complemented the creative work for years. The illustration yearbook Freistil (Verlag Hermann Schmidt Mainz) has been published irregularly since 2003. The calendars Typodarium and Poladarium are published by Raban Ruddigkeit together with Lars Harmsen . In spring 2017, the first Berlin Design Digest, which he published together with Robert Eysoldt, was published by Slanted Publishers. The first edition of HOT Histories Of Tomorrow was published in autumn 2019 , for which only content from the Internet is refined in print and for which Raban Ruddigkeit acts as editor and curator alongside Lars Harmsen. Raban Ruddigkeit has worked as a lecturer at the HfG Offenbach, the UdK Berlin, the DAB Berlin, the MAD Hamburg and the Münster School Of Design.
