Rạch Giá is the capital of the Vietnamese province of Kiên Giang on the Gulf of Thailand . With 244,055 inhabitants (as of 2007) it is the ninth largest city in Vietnam.
The city is growing into the Gulf through a land reclamation program . There are 92 islands in front of the bay of Rạch Giá .
