Rachel Laura Brown-Finnis (born Rachel Laura Brown on July 2, 1980 in Burnley ) is a former English soccer player . The goalkeeper last played for the English club Everton and the English national team , of which she is the record goalkeeper.

Career

After a long break from injury, Brown played in the national team against Sweden in the last game of Euro 2005 . Brown matured as a soccer student in the United States , playing for Panthers at the University of Pittsburgh , where she was regularly the best goalkeeper in the Eastern Conference. A highlight of her career was taking part in the FA Women's Cup final with Liverpool FC at the age of 15 . Brown played for the England women's national team in all qualifying games for participation in the 2007 World Cup . In April 2007 she was nominated for the game of the “FIFA Women's World Stars” against the Chinese women's national soccer team on the occasion of the group draw for the 2007 World Cup and came on as a substitute for the second half. In 2009 she reached the final of the European Championship with England , in which she was defeated by Germany 2-6. Even if it was no longer used in 2011, it was nominated for the 2011 World Cup , but was not used there either. Brown was also in the squad for Team GB that took part in the London Olympics. She was used on July 19, 2012 in the friendly against Sweden , but not at the Olympic Games where her team was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Canada .
