geography

The place is located in the Vistula Delta (in the historical region Żuławy Wiślane ), about four kilometers west of Elbląg (Elbing).

The deepest point in town is 1.8 meters below sea level. This has long been considered the lowest point in Poland. Since a new survey in 2013 there has been a new record in Marzęcino with 2.07 meters below sea level.

history

The area of today's place originally belonged to Kerbswalde, of which the oldest mention of 1586 is received. In 1786 the Unter Trift near Kerbswalde was named.

Later a settlement was built there, from which a separate municipality of Unterkerbswalde was created.
