Career

Radek Šírl first played for TJ Rudná in his youth. In 1995 he moved to the Prague club Admira / Slavoj, shortly afterwards Bohemians Prague brought him .

There the then coach Vlastimil Petržela gave him a chance in the first team in the 2000/01 season. The midfielder was so convincing that he moved to Sparta Prague in the summer of 2001 for 6.5 million kroner and signed a five-year contract there. But he stayed in the 2001/02 season on loan with Bohemians. The following season he started at Sparta, but was loaned back to Bohemians after a few weeks and only one assignment. There he contributed to fourth place with good performances.

In early 2003, Petržela, who had left Bohemians six months earlier, took over the Russian first division club Zenit St. Petersburg and remembered Šírl. The very first season in Russia was a great success for Zenit, the team became runner-up and won the league cup. In three years Šírl came to 66 first division games, in which he scored five goals. A particularly good form reached Šírl in the game year 2006. On November 15, 2006 he made his debut in a friendly against Denmark for the Czech national team .

In the 2007/08 season he won the UEFA Cup with Zenit against Glasgow Rangers . In Saint Petersburg , Šírl has a contract until the end of 2011. In September 2010, Šírl dissolved his contract at Zenit and moved to FK Mladá Boleslav .
