Radical (phonetics)
In phonetics, radical refers to a sound that is formed with the root of the tongue (Latin radix linguae ) as the organ of articulation .
The root of the tongue can only narrow the airflow in the throat and thus form pharyngeal consonants :
- [ ħ ] voiceless pharyngeal fricative
- [ ʕ ] Voiced pharyngeal fricative
