life and work

Radim Mareš graduated from the University of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Pilsen . After graduation, he moved to the department for hydromechanics and thermomechanics , which was later set up with the department for turbines as a new department for engines and equipment, in which he became head of the department for fluid mechanics and thermomechanics. In 1972 he was awarded the CSc. awarded. In 1980 he became a lecturer and finally a professor at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen in 1999 . His main topic is the thermophysical properties of water and steam , at an international level his focus is on the thermodynamic properties of real liquids. He has been involved in a number of major projects and is the author and co-author of more than 100 publications. The most important is: Tables of the thermodynamic properties of water and water vapor.

Radim Mareš has already participated in several international conferences with the results of his work. He has worked on thermophysical properties of liquids in the UK , Japan , Sweden and Germany . He is a member of the Industrial Calculations Working Group , a member of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam IAPWS , and an advisor to the EKIS network (Energy Consulting and Information Center) of the Czech Energy Agency.

Awards

In 2011, Radim Mareš received the Honorary Fellow award for creating an equation for the thermodynamic properties of water vapor at high temperatures . The equation was adopted by IAPWS in 1997 and recommended as part of a worldwide standard for industrial calculations.
