Radoslav Kvapil

Radoslav Kvapil (born March 15, 1934 in Brno ) is a Czech pianist and composer . He is one of the leading interpreters of Czech piano music. After 2000 he also appeared as a Chopin interpreter.

Kvapil had been taking piano lessons from Ludvík Kundera from the age of six . He has given concerts in around 50 countries in Europe, North America and Asia; His venues included the Royal Albert Hall in London , the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris . From 1963 to 1973 he was a professor at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague . He is the founder of the South Bohemian Music Festival and the International Dvořák Society .

Kvapil's numerous recordings include recordings of all of the piano works by Antonín Dvořák , Leoš Janáček and Jan Václav Voříšek .

In 2002 Kvapil was named Chevalier dans l´Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture .
