Rafael Amador Flores (born November 16, 1957 in the state of Tlaxcala , † July 31, 2018 in the state of Puebla ) was a Mexican football player and coach .
biography
player
Amador was an extremely tough defender who was sent off a total of eleven times in the nine seasons between 1979/80 and 1987/88. In the same period he scored two goals: his first goal, incidentally his only one in a league game, he succeeded in the 1983/84 season in the 4-1 victory of Pumas against Deportivo Toluca . In the following season he met in the semi-final first leg of the Liguilla at Club León (3: 3).

Rafael Amador played between 1979 and 1987 for the UNAM Pumas , with whom he became Mexican champions in the 1980/81 season and twice (1980 and 1982) the CONCACAF Champions Cup and in 1981 the Copa Interamericana . At the end of his active professional career, he was under contract with Puebla FC in 1987/88 .
National team
Between 1983 and 1986 Amador Flores played a total of 30 times for the Mexican national soccer team. The highlight of his national team career was his participation in the 1986 World Cup , which was held in his own country , in which he played against Iraq (1-0) in the last group game, against Bulgaria (2-0) in the round of 16 and against Germany (0-0) in the quarter-finals n. V., 1: 4 on penalties) was used. It is noteworthy that "el Tri", as the national team in Mexico is called, did not concede a single goal in the World Cup games in which he participated. The game against the German team was also his farewell game for "el Tri".
Trainer
Between 1999 and 2000 he coached the professional team of the UNAM Pumas for a year.
