Rafael Gil

Rafael Gil (born May 22, 1913 in Madrid ; † September 10, 1986 ibid) was a Spanish film director.

Life

Rafael Gil wrote as a film journalist for various specialist and daily newspapers and also published specialist books on film. He came to the cinema through the production of short films and documentaries and made his debut in 1941 as a director of a feature film. Gil was active in several genres and made several literary adaptations. During the Franco era he was one of the most popular representatives of Spanish cinema. In Germany he was best known for films with a religious background. He directed more than 80 productions.
