Rafael Osuna Herrera (born September 15, 1938 in Mexico City , † June 4, 1969 in Monterrey ) was a Mexican tennis player .
In 1963 Osuna was the first and so far only Mexican to be number 1 in world tennis (among amateurs). His greatest successes included winning the men's singles at the US Open in 1963 and double successes at the US Open in 1962 and at Wimbledon in 1960 and 1963.
Rafael Osuna was killed in a plane crash in 1969. Shortly before, he had almost single-handedly led Mexico to a 3-2 win in the Davis Cup over Australia .
In 1979 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
