Rafael Reisser (born January 12, 1958 in Darmstadt ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a directly elected member of the Darmstadt electoral district from 2003 to 2008 and since the new election of the Hessian state parliament on January 18, 2009 until June 30, 2011 I to the Hessian state parliament.

At the end of June 2011 he was elected mayor (1st alderman) of his hometown Darmstadt as part of a green-black coalition.

education and profession

After graduating from school, Rafael Reisser trained as a steel fitter at Donges-Stahlbau Darmstadt and graduated in 1976. His father Herbert Reisser was a city planning officer in Darmstadt in the 1970s. In 1983 he graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz with a degree in business administration (focus: corporate management, marketing and hospital management) and from 1983 worked as a sales representative for various companies and then ran his own photo shop. From September 2008 to January 2009 he worked at Merck KGaA in the Public Affairs department.

politics

Reisser became a member of the CDU in 1975 and in 1996 became deputy chairman of the Kranichstein district . From 2006 to 2010 he was district chairman of the CDU Darmstadt. Since 2006 he has been chairman of the CDU city council group.

He was a member of the Hessian state parliament since April 5, 2003. In the state elections in Hesse in 2003 , he was elected as a constituency member in the Darmstadt-Stadt I constituency. This constituency had previously been won by the SPD in every state election. In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for science and art, the interior committee, the social policy committee, investigation committee 16/2, state youth welfare committee (members according to § 9 paragraph 1 no. 1 of the law for the implementation of the child and youth welfare law) as well as the administrative committee at the Staatstheater Darmstadt .

In the state elections in 2008 , Reisser lost this constituency again and was not elected from the state list.

In the state elections in 2009 , Reisser was able to regain his constituency and move back into the Hessian state parliament. There he was spokesman for research policy as well as science and art. He was also a member of the committees for science and art, as well as in the penal sub-committee.

After the local elections in 2006 , he took over the chairmanship of the CDU parliamentary group in the Darmstadt city ​​council . He ran for the 2011 local elections as the top candidate on the CDU local election list and also as the mayor candidate of his party in Darmstadt, but did not make it into the runoff election. As a result of the local elections in 2011 , a green-black majority coalition was formed in the Darmstadt city council. Other offices

Since 2003, Reißer has been a member of the supervisory board of HEAG Südhessische Energie AG (HSE), Darmstadt.

He is also the first chairman of the Hessische Spielgemeinschaft 1925 eV Darmstadt.
