Rafael Toribio

Rafael Toribio Arzate (born August 21, 1953 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

career

Toribio was a member of the first division team of his "home club" Cruz Azul from 1976 to 1986 , with whom he won the championship title in the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons and was again runner-up in 1980/81.

Before his professional career with the Cementeros , he was part of a Mexican national team that won the gold medal at the 1975 Pan American Games football tournament . A year later, Toribio was part of the Mexican squad at the 1976 Olympic football tournament , where he made his debut against France (4-1).

In November 1981 Toribio completed three international matches for the Mexican national team as part of qualifying for the 1982 World Cup .

After ten years at Cruz Azul, Toribio moved to Ángeles de Puebla in the summer of 1986 , for whom he completed 40 point games and scored one goal in the 1986/87 and 1987/88 seasons.
