Helga Lerch

Helga Lerch (born March 21, 1955 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and education

Lerch grew up in Ingelheim , graduated from the Hildegardis School in Bingen in 1973 and then studied English / American and political science at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . After her legal clerkship, she worked from 1981 to 2008 as a high school teacher for social studies and English at the St. Katharinen high school in Oppenheim . Until 2016, Lerch was the headmistress of the Nackenheim grammar school .

politics

Lerch joined the FDP in 1976 . She has been a member of the Mainz-Bingen district council since 1988 and has been chairwoman of the FDP parliamentary group there since 1999.

In the state elections in 2016 , she ran in the constituency of Ingelheim am Rhein and was elected to the 17th state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate via the FDP state list .

On February 20, 2020, the FDP parliamentary group in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament excluded Lerch from the parliamentary group. Lerch announced a lawsuit against it.

Others

Lerch is committed to the rural women and is a member of the philologists' association . Since 2017 she has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for Civic Education at the Ingelheim Training Center .
