Raffaele Trombetta

Raffaele Trombetta (born April 23, 1960 in Naples ) is an Italian diplomat who has been ambassador to London since January 29, 2018 .

Career

On February 28, 1983, he completed a degree in political science at the University of Naples and in 1994 a master's degree in European Studies at the London School of Economics .

On February 1, 1985, he joined the foreign service. From July 6, 1987, he was second class delegation secretary in Bogota , where he was appointed first class delegation secretary on August 1, 1989. From December 8, 1990 to January 9, 1995 he was consul in London. From January 9, 1995 he was employed in the Secretariat of the Economic Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italy) , which he headed from February 22, 1995. From September 18, 1997 he headed the secretariat of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 14 December 1998 he was Director of the Permanent Representation of Italy to the European Union in Brussels . On August 10, 2002, he was appointed deputy head of mission in Beijing . On July 3, 2006, he became the Secretary of State's office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On September 1st, 2008 bis he became Deputy Director General of the European Integration Department.

From January 7, 2013 to July 1, 2016 he was ambassador in Brasília and at the same time was accredited as ambassador to Paramaribo ( Suriname ) with his seat in Brasília .

In January 2017, he assumed the position of Personal Representative and Sherpa of Prime Minister for the G7 and G20.

Since 2018 he has been Ambassador to the Court of St James’s Italy in London.
