Raffi , CM , OBC (born July 8, 1948 in Cairo , Egypt ; actually: Raffi Cavoukian ) is a singer and composer of children's songs.

Life

Raffi lives in Canada . Style elements from calypso , country , folk , gospel , jazz , ragtime and reggae can be found in his music .

The Washington Post named him the most popular entertainer for children in the western world. He was awarded the Order of British Columbia and the Earth Achievement Award of the UN excellent. In the Simpsons episode no. 320 (2004) Raffi is parodied .

In 2000 he founded the Troubadour Institute , which advocates a more child-friendly society. He published his autobiography under the title The Life of a Children's Troubadour . He opposes advertising aimed at children .
