Raffish
Raffish was a five-piece Dutch girl group.
history
The group was put together in 2004 as part of the talent show Popstars: The Rivals . In the end, the following made it into the group:
- Nora Dalal (born January 1, 1981)
- Esri Dijkstra (born March 5, 1988)
- Sharon Doorson (born April 24, 1987 in Utrecht )
- Lianne van Groen (born March 17, 1985 in Zaandam )
- Eva Simons (born April 27, 1984 in Amsterdam )
After the band was put together, the group competed in the final duel against the boy group Men2B . The winner was whoever was able to climb higher in the Dutch charts with his winning single. Since Men2B got their single Bigger Than That on December 25, 2004 in both the Nederlandse Top 40 and the single Top 100 at number 1, they emerged as winners. At the beginning of 2005, Raffish also took first place with her song Plaything . The title was replaced by Als je iets kan doen by the music project Artiesten voor Azië , in which Raffish and Men2B were also involved. The title was recorded after the tsunami disaster of December 26, 2004 , and the proceeds went to the victims.
Eva Simons left the band in the summer of 2005. Raffish brought out two more singles, but they could not build on earlier successes. Her debut album How Raffish Are You? did not get past 14th place. A second album was started after Simons' departure, but due to disagreement it was never completed. On February 21, 2006, the band announced their split. Her last single, Let Go , was later re-recorded by Vanessa Hudgens . The members devoted themselves to other projects after the dissolution, so Lianne van Groen (as Li-Ann ) and Sharon Doorson were also singers of the group Twenty 4 Seven , Doorson took part in The Voice of Holland and reached the semifinals.
