activities

EG 3103 in the Padborg depot

The most profitable is the transit traffic between Padborg and Malmö . Some routes are operated by third-party companies. The Nordjyske Jernbaner runs north of Aalborg . South of Næstved , A / S Lollandsbanen operates freight trains on the Banedanmark network .

Cargo Danmark uses 13 locomotives from the RSC EG series , which is a six-axle version of the Siemens ES64F . As a two-system vehicle, it is designed for operation in the Danish 25 kV 50 Hz catenary network as well as in the Swedish and German 15 kV 16.7 Hz catenary network and has the train control systems of all three countries. The six-axle design increases the starting tractive effort from 300 to 400 kN, making the EG 3100 one of the most powerful vehicles on the European continent. This tractive effort is necessary in order to be able to transport the freight trains weighing up to 2,300 tons on the 15.6 per thousand gradient in the Great Belt Tunnel even if half of the traction equipment fails. Up to now, only trains weighing up to 1,700 tons could run here with one locomotive. This load limit applies, among other things, to the 185.2 class locomotives that are just as frequently used there.

Essentially, through trains are run from Malmö to the Maschen marshalling yard .

The 17 available locomotives of the 185.2 series (185 321–331, 334–337, 401–403) come from Malmö with through trains to Lübeck, Bad Bentheim, Wanne-Eickel and Cologne-Gremberg (as of January 2019).
