Green Cargo (GC) is a railway company in the freight . It emerged from Statens Järnvägar , the Swedish state railway, on January 1, 2001 as a result of the EU rail liberalization .

The public company is wholly owned by the Swedish state. It is administered by the Ministry of Economy. The company's chairman has been Håkan Buskhe since 2009. Green Cargo is a member of the RIV and UIC .

The company owns its own locomotives that have been taken over by the Swedish State Railways. Likewise were freight cars over. Green Cargo does not have its own routes.
