When he finished his studies, Kummer gave up painting and discovered “his fascination for found sculptural situations in the metropolitan area, some of which he captured through interventions with the help of photography. The investigation and reassessment of the everyday, the situational and the ephemeral now move into the focus of his artistic work. "

“Kummer is one of the artists who has been addressing the production and presentation conditions of art since the late 1970s. The measurement of public space he began at this time with regard to its sculptural qualities represents an early and radical step towards a new understanding of sculptural work. With his photographic and sculptural work, Raimund Kummer worked significantly on expanding the concept of material and sculpture contributed to reintroducing the narrative into sculpture. "
