Raimund Th. Kolb

Raimund Theodor Kolb (born 1949 ) is a German sinologist .

Life

Kolb studied Sinology , Ethnology , Indonesian Studies in Berlin and History in Taipei . He received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 1985 and his habilitation in 1993 .

From 1998 to 2015 Kolb was Professor of Sinology at the University of Würzburg . His main research interests are environmental history , historical crime and military history of China.

He wrote the foreword to the book The Migration Problem, published posthumously in 2016, and the epilogue to the volume of essays Finis Germania by the historian Rolf Peter Sieferle in 2017 and acts as his estate administrator.

Kolb is a member of the Berlin Scientific Society (BWG) and a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute . He has lived in Vienna since 2020.
