Raimund Zimpernik
Raimund Zimpernik (born March 8, 1923 in Bad Ischl , † January 19, 1997 there ) was an Austrian resistance fighter and worker.
Life
After graduating from school, Raimund Zimpernik began training as a Wagner , which was interrupted by his arrest. He later worked as a carpenter for the Brandl construction company in Bad Ischl. Here he was're his retirement and council chairman .
After duplicating and distributing leaflets , he was arrested in February 1941. On 1 April 1942 it condemned the People's Court in Berlin only to ten years in prison because he was not yet 18 years old. He spent the sentence u. a. in the concentration camps Garsten and Börgermoor .
After his return from captivity, he worked as a functionary for the Free Austrian Youth (FÖJ).
In 1947 he was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the American military tribunal in the course of the Bad Ischl milk trial. His protest was directed against the withdrawal of fresh milk for young children. The verdict was overturned after popular protests. Raimund Zimpernik later worked as a councilor in Bad Ischl.
Raimund Zimpernik rejected the Silver Merit Sign of the Republic of Austria on the grounds that too little was being done to “come to terms” with contemporary history and especially with National Socialism.
He died in 1997 in Bad Ischl from cancer.
In 1995 Der Rote Strähn , his book about resistance in the Salzkammergut, was self-published.
