Rain was a post-hardcore band from Washington, DC / USA .

history

The band was created in the course of or after the development in Washington, DC Hardcore , which came under the name Revolution Summer , which mainly produced post-hardcore and proto- emo bands such as Embrace , Rites of Spring , Fire Party and others. The group was one of the most important bands of the second wave of Revolution Summer .

The members of the band, above all Bert Queiroz, who had already played with the Untouchables and Youth Brigade , had been part of the capital's hardcore punk scene before.

After the band had played a few concerts in the Washington area and the USA, some songs were recorded in 1986 and 1987, of which Worlds at War was released in 1989 on the Dischord sampler State of Union . In 1990 an EP called La cache qui rit was released - the band's only regular record.

During this time, the band finally broke up. Eli Janney and Scott McCloud then played with Girls Against Boys , Bert Queiroz played with Manifesto and Thunderball , Joh Kirschten with Special K and Las Mardidas .

style

The band's sound is typical of the mid-80s post-hardcore and emo in Washington hardcore. The group can be compared with Rites of Spring or Dag Nasty rather than with the quieter Fugazi due to the even more hardcore-punk-heavy sound .

In a text the band is described as follows:

“Rain is a lot rougher and more hardcore than most of the new DC bands, you feel reminded of the Dischord phase in the mid-80s (for example the first Dag Nasty LP). Nevertheless the music is not simple or banal, all songs are structured more or less ingeniously, and some of the melodies are catchy tunes. ”
