Dag Nasty is an American post-hardcore / punk band formed in 1985 . In 2004 the group consisted of Dave Smalley ( DYS , ALL , Down By Law ) vocals, Brian Baker ( Minor Threat , Bad Religion ) on guitar, Roger Marbury on bass and Colin Sears on drums. The band was one of the first bands to mix fast and aggressive hardcore with melodic elements.
style
If the debut album Can I Say is still strongly connected to the hardcore brand Minor Threat, Dag Nasty become more melodious and varied with each release, opening up to pop and new wave , for example, so that Field Day can no longer be classified in a genre drawer, although the punk always remains the basis. In contrast, Four on the Floor and Minority of One are again straight Melodic Hardcore , which in places strongly reminds of Bad Religion.
