Rainer Balzer

Rainer Balzer (born June 10, 1959 in Heidelberg ) is a German mechanical engineer and lecturer at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University as well as a politician ( AfD ). He is a member of the state parliament for the AfD and is the deputy chairman of the AfD parliamentary group in Baden-Württemberg .

Professional

Rainer Balzer graduated from the technical high school in Bruchsal . After graduating from high school, he did military service for two years and then studied mechanical engineering at the Universities of Karlsruhe and Stuttgart . To the Dr.-Ing. he received his doctorate from the University of Stuttgart in 2002. He has been a teacher since 1992.

politics

Rainer Balzer was a member of the Junge Union in the state executive under Günther Oettinger and until 2013 a member of the CDU .

He has been a member of the AfD since 2013 and spokesman for the Karlsruhe-Land district association since 2015. In the state elections on March 13, 2016 , he won the second mandate for the AfD in the Bruchsal state electoral district (29 Bruchsal) with 19.7% percent of the vote .

In the 16th legislative period, Balzer is a member of the committees for "Culture, Youth and Sport" and "Science, Research and Art" and is a member of the Upper Rhine Council (delegation Baden-Württemberg). In summer 2016 he resigned from the AfD parliamentary group and joined the newly founded group Alternative for Baden-Württemberg .

Rainer Balzer repeatedly expressed himself with right-wing populist statements on the anti-Semitism debate, asylum policy (“ Merkel's Asylum Industry”) or assumptions about the motivation of refugee helpers in press releases or on his Facebook page. The FDP in Balzers constituency of Bruchsal therefore asked the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of Baden-Württemberg in 2016 to examine the consequences of Balzer's official status.

Private

Balzer is married and lives in Bad Schönborn .
