Rainer Fornahl

Rainer Fornahl (born May 10, 1947 in Collmen ; † December 3, 2014 in Zwenkau ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1966, Fornahl studied applied geophysics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig , which he completed in 1971 as a graduate geophysicist. He then did his military service in the National People's Army (NVA) until 1973 and then worked as an exploration and area geophysicist. In 1991 he joined the municipal housing company Leipziger Wohnungs- und Baugesellschaft / Immobilienverwaltung Gohlis in Leipzig as a department head and authorized signatory . In 1994 he moved to VEBA Immobilien / IMG Leipzig. Until February 2010 he was a member of the supervisory board of the Leipzig housing and construction company.

Rainer Fornahl was married and had one child. Fornahl collapsed dead on the morning of December 3, 2014 in his house on Lake Zwenkau.

Political party

In 1989 he was one of the co-founders of the New Forum and in November 1989 one of the co-founders of the SDP of the GDR in Leipzig. From 1993 to 2006 he was a member of the SPD sub-district executive committee for Leipzig-Borna.

MP

From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the city council and from 1994 of the city council of Leipzig. From 1990 to 1998 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group .

From 1998 to 2009 Fornahl was a member of the German Bundestag .

Rainer Fornahl always moved into the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Leipzig I constituency . In the 2005 Bundestag election , he received 33.0% of the first votes .
