Rainer Gömmel

Rainer Gömmel (born June 19, 1944 in Nuremberg ) is a German economist .

After studying economics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg , Gömmel was a research assistant at the Chair for Economic History at the University of Regensburg from 1971 to 1986 . He received his doctorate in 1977 and completed his habilitation in 1984. From 1986 to 1988 he was managing director of the Central Institute for Franconian Regional Studies and General Regional Research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since 1990 he has held the chair for economic history at the University of Regensburg.
