Rainer Hermus

Rainer Hermus (born April 9, 1947 ) is a former German soccer player who played for BSG Wismut Gera (1966/67) and ASG Vorwärts Stralsund (1971/72) in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR soccer , played.

Athletic career

Hermus made his first football games for men in 1965 with the 2nd team of the company sports association (BSG) Wismut Gera in the third-rate district league . Already in the 1966/67 season he was used in the first team, which had just been promoted to the league. He benefited from the protracted injury to defender Kurt Kosmanek , whom he represented from matchday 6. By the end of the season Hermus was called up in fourteen league games as a defender or midfielder, twice he was successful as a goalscorer. The BSG Wismut rose again after a year in the GDR league . There Hermus came in 1967/68 only in a league game of the 1st team to use, but was in the seasons 1968/69 and 1969/70 with 23 of 30 league games each time in the GDR league team.

After only eleven GDR league games in 1970/71 for Wismut Gera, Hermus moved to the league promoted forward Stralsund for the 1971/72 season. There, from the 1st matchday on, the army sports community was called up in the league team, played primarily in midfield and, with his 22 appearances in the 26 point games played, was part of the Stralsund player base. He was able to excel as a goalscorer twice. As with the Gera team, he had to relegate from the league again in Stralsund after only one season. Hermus stayed two more seasons with Vorwärts Stralsund in the GDR league. In the 44 league games of this period, he was 28 times in the team and scored six goals. Since he had been discharged from the army in May 1974, he no longer took part in the promotion games to the league, with which the Stralsunder returned to the league.

Hermus returned to Gera and played for BSG Wismut in the 1974/75 and 1975/76 seasons in the GDR league in a total of 44 games played in a further 37 second division games (4 goals).
