Rainer Junghanns

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rainer Junghanns (* 1963 in Munich ) is a German artist .

Life

Rainer Junghanns came to study at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1985 . He lives and works in Düsseldorf to this day .

Junghanns creates procedural sculptures . He is interested in time, movement, communication, places and people. He uses various media and materials. The spectrum ranges from spatial media installations in museums and other art venues to large-format photographs or video styles as the artistic results of his projects.

Junghanns' work is characterized by conceptually and time-consuming planned actions. For example, he made two trips as a passenger on cargo ships for his “GMT +” project. One tour lasted four months and the other six months, and together the distances covered add up to the length of one trip around the world. The aim of this effort is to make globality physically tangible and to pass on the impressions experienced - through video cameras that the artist has installed on the ships.
