Rainer Vothel

Rainer Vothel (born April 15, 1959 in Dresden ) is a German pianist , composer and singer .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Leipzig , Rainer Vothel studied architecture in Weimar , then jazz piano from 1987 to 1992 at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .

In the 1980s and 90s he worked as a pianist and singer in various jazz and fusion projects (including Gin Chilla , Collage , and Jazz Opimists with Marianne Bear and Pascal von Wroblewsky, among others ). He has composed titles for TV series, theater and cabaret. Since 1992 he has accompanied various cabaret programs solo or with the Rainer Vothel Trio (e.g. with Tom Pauls , Bernd-Lutz Lange , Katrin Weber and Gunter Böhnke).

As a pianist, he was involved in radio and television productions and alongside Jörg Kachelmann was a permanent sideman of the talk show Kachelmanns Spätausgabe .

Since 1998 he has been teaching jazz / popular music at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig.
