Tom Uwe Pauls (born April 26, 1959 in Leipzig ) is a German actor and cabaret artist .

Live and act

Tom Pauls was born in Leipzig in 1959. His younger sister is the choreographer Irina Pauls . During his childhood and youth he lived in the Leipzig districts of Marienbrunn and Stötteritz. He received guitar and piano lessons as a child and was a member of the Leipzig Children's Radio Choir from the age of seven.

Pauls trained as a chemical technician in Bitterfeld. From 1979 to 1983 Pauls studied acting at the Leipzig Theater Academy and was then engaged at the Dresden State Theater until 1990 . While still studying (1982) Pauls founded the Zwinger Trio with fellow students Jürgen Haase and Peter Kube in Dresden , which became famous beyond the GDR . In 1987 Pauls played the teacher Frank Simon in the television film "Everyone dreams of a horse".

Pauls has been working as a freelance actor and cabaret artist since 1990. a. on the Theaterkahn Dresden and in the State Operetta Dresden . Together with Uwe Steimle and director Holger Böhme he created the characters Günther Zieschong (played by Steimle) and Ilse Bähnert , the latter having developed into Paul's star role . In the role of Ilse Bähnert based on a character by Lene Voigt , Pauls plays an old woman as a Saxon veteran.

Tom Pauls has also achieved particular success with his Lene Voigt program. He also plays joint programs with Gunter Böhnke and Bernd-Lutz Lange . Pauls has been working regularly with the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen since 1998 .

In 2000 and 2001 Pauls dubbed the animated series Der Wunschpunsch together with Dieter Bellmann , Joachim Kaps , Manon Straché and other actors .

From 2004 to 2006 Pauls was seen in the role of caretaker Ottmar Wolf Ensemble member of the ARD series In allerfreund.

Pauls lives in Dresden- Loschwitz , is married to his wife Sibylle and has three sons.

Ilse Bähnert Foundation

Pauls is chairman of the board of the Ilse-Bähnert-Foundation, which was founded in 2007 and has set itself the goal of preserving and cultivating Saxon culture and language. To this end, the foundation supports the work of cultural institutions and the preservation of art and cultural assets. The foundation's first notable campaign in 2008 was the reconstruction and re-erection of an obelisk on the Lilienstein , which commemorates the ascent of the mountain by Elector August the Strong . By 2011, the foundation in Pirna renovated the culturally and historically valuable former home of the sovereign master builder Peter Ulrich (including master builder of the Marienkirche in Pirna ). The Peter Ulrich House acts as the seat of the foundation and has been used as a theater with 199 seats, a museum and a café since it opened on November 11, 2011.

In addition, the Saxon Word of the Year has been chosen in the Dresden Schauspielhaus in a campaign launched by the Ilse Bähnert Foundation since 2008 .
