Holger Böhme
Holger Böhme (* 1965 in Dresden ) is a German author, radio play and theater director.
Live and act
Holger Böhme initially worked as a transport worker from 1983, later as a lighting technician at the Dresden State Theater. In 1990 he moved to the Dresdner Brettl, where he was employed as a lighting master under the direction of Friedrich-Wilhelm Junge . In the same year he drew attention to himself with the radio play "It went again well" with Jörg Gudzuhn in the leading role. In 1991 he took over the direction of the Lene Voigt program "Saxon Variations", in which he developed the character "Ilse Bähnert" together with the actor Tom Pauls , which later became one of Pauls' prime roles. At the beginning of the 1990s, he and Pauls bought an old barge and, together with Friedrich-Wilhelm Junge, Pauls and others, founded the Dresden Theaterkahn , which began operations in 1994 as the new Dresden Brettl venue. As a result, he took on numerous directing jobs, especially on the Dresdner Brettl, but also on other stages. Böhme continued to write radio plays, for example in 1994 "Krauses Tod" directed by Joachim Staritz with Axel Wandtke in the role of "Jochen". In 1994 Böhme wrote and staged the play “Braked out or the dream of driving”, which premiered in 1995 at the Dresdner Brettl. In this play he invented the character of "Lothar", which became another popular role for Pauls.
In 1997 Böhme founded the Dresden Puppet Theater together with the puppeteer Jörg Bretschneider and the set designer Mathias Hänsel , where he staged several pieces for both children and adults.
Böhme has been a freelance director and author since 2000 . In 2005 he began working regularly with the Cabaret Academixer in Leipzig, both as a writer and as a director. Among other things, he staged the plays “Stay seated”, “Above the belt” and “Admit it”.
In 2000 Böhme published his first volume of short stories, “Die Forelle”, followed in 2005 by “Bell defective!” And in 2008 the novel “Frau Brumbolski, die others und ich”. He is also the author of a large number of radio plays, for example “In einer Zug” with Axel Prahl . For "Solstice. Toter Hund ”, Böhme was awarded the Zons Radio Play Prize in 2002. In recent years, Böhme has increasingly appeared as an author of plays, for example with the premiered pieces “Gib alles” (2014), “Bauland” (2015) and “Lothar and the great spirit” (2016) with Tom Pauls and Jörg Schüttauf .
Numerous guest appearances have taken him to Italy, Mexico, Turkey and Belgium.
Böhme has been the director of the Theaterkahn since August 2017.
