Rainer Will (economist)

Rainer Will (born August 18, 1979 in Schladming ) is an Austrian trade expert and author.

Life

Will studied business administration in Vienna and London. He worked at the Institute for International Research , at Bene and then for five years at Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft in the strategy department.

As an independent economic policy advisor, Will was responsible for the areas of corporate finance, innovation and technology in the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the cabinet of Reinhold Mitterlehner , first Minister of Economics and then Vice Chancellor of Austria .

Will became managing director of the Austrian trade association in 2014 . Will is a member of the board of directors of the European eCommerce and Omni-Channel Trade Association (EMOTA). The Swiss import promotion organization Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO) elected Will to its advisory board in 2017.

Will is a member of the advisory board for the master’s degree in Digital Marketing & Communication at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences .

In his work for the trade association, Will won a competition lawsuit against Amazon as a complainant in order to obtain a fair marketplace for small traders. Amazon then changed eight terms and conditions for the Amazon Marketplace worldwide. Will was also able to negotiate an industry commitment to deal fairly with agriculture. He was also the initiator of eCommerce training in Austria.

It was also Rainer Will who united the two European trade associations EMOTA and Ecommerce Europe. In his most recent book "How Real Are You?" Among other things, he was the first to propose a law to anchor data sovereignty as a human right.
