Raintime was a melodic death metal / progressive metal band from Pordenone ( Italy ).

history

The band was founded in the summer of 1999 by Matteo Barzan (drums), Claudio Coassin (vocals, keyboards) and Matteo di Bon (guitar). The band is completed with Francesco Rossi (guitar) and Michele Colussi (bass). In the same year the band recorded an instrumental demo . At the time, the band was still playing progressive metal , with Dream Theater being the main source of inspiration. 2001 drummer Matteo Barzan left the band and was replaced by Enrico Fabris. The band then changed their music in a more aggressive direction. Claudio Coassin switched from the keyboards to the microphone. In the fall of 2002, Francesco Rossi left the band. His successor Giovanni Buora stayed for only a year and was replaced by Carlo Nadalin. In 2004 the band recorded their first album under the direction of Luigi Stefanini. After the recordings were completed, Luca Michael Martina joined the band as a permanent guitarist. In addition, Andrea Corona, a keyboard player, got on board so that Coassin could concentrate on the singing.

In early 2005 the band signed a worldwide contract with Arise Records . In May of that year the debut album Tales from Sadness was released and Raintime should go on a European tour with Secret Sphere and Royal Hunt . The tour was canceled on the morning of the day the first concert was to take place. Two months later, Arise filed for bankruptcy . Despite these setbacks, the band did not give up and wrote new songs. In summer 2006 the band went to Denmark to record their second album under the direction of Tommy Hansen (including Helloween , Pretty Maids ). Jacob Bredahl (Ex- Hatesphere ) and Lars F. Larsen ( Manticora ) appeared as guest singers . In April 2007 the second album Flies & Lies will be released . The album contains a cover version of the Michael Jackson hit Beat It and receives good reviews in the relevant magazines.

In 2010 the band's new album was released. Psychromatic has been very well received by critics and magazines, and has received good reviews and reviews. In May 2012 the band announced their breakup.
