Ralf Büchner (born August 31, 1967 in Neuruppin ) is a former German gymnast . His greatest success was the world championship title on the horizontal bar in 1991.

Life

Ralf Büchner, who grew up in the GDR , came to Hanover from Potsdam in 1991 . At the age of 21, he won the silver medal in gymnastics with the GDR team at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul . In 1990 he was in Lausanne Vice European Champion on vault and third in the European Championships on the high bar. In addition to the world title on the horizontal bar in 1991 in Indianapolis , he took third place with the team. At the European Championships in 1992 he was third on the flat horse . The year 1994 brought participation in the world championships, third place at the European championships with the team, fourth place on the flat horse at the European championships, titles as German master on the horizontal bar and German runner-up on horses and rings and a third place in all-around competitions the German championships. In 1995 he was fourth in the all-around competition at the German Championships.

Today he works as a locksmith in Hanover and is always available for gymnastics in the local gymnastics club.
