Ralf Döring

Ralf Döring (* 1966 ) is a German economist and working group leader of the AG Fishery and Aquaculture Economics at the Institute for Sea Fisheries of the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forests and Fisheries .

Life

Döring studied economics in Kassel and did his doctorate at the University of Greifswald. Together with Konrad Ott , he developed the concept of strong sustainability . He was active for a long time with Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Greifswald and sat on the city council for this party. As a scientist at the University of Greifswald, in cooperation with the Landesfischereiverband MV and the NABU Rügen , Döring tried to establish a regional certification for fish from sustainable use in 2009. Under his leadership, criteria for sustainable fishing were developed and surveys were carried out on purchasing behavior for certified fish. The introduction of the seal as the first of its kind in Germany did not materialize, however.
