Ralf Regenbogen (born March 24, 1960 in Wanne-Eickel , today in Herne ) is a former German football player .
Career
The career of the trained machine fitter began in the men's division in the 1977/78 season with the third-rate amateur league team DSC Wanne-Eickel . With the club, Ralf Regenbogen became champion of the Association League Westphalia and made the leap to the 2nd Bundesliga North in the promotion round . He made his second division debut on matchday 1 (July 30, 1978) when he was substituted on in the 80th minute by coach Günter Luttrop in the game against Hannover 96 (2: 4) . In two seasons he scored two goals in 24 appearances. In 1980 he went down with his club in the Oberliga Westfalen . There he made the breakthrough and became a goalscorer. Apart from a season with SpVgg Erkenschwick (1982/83) he played for Wanne-Eickel until 1985.
From 1985 to 1987 he played at FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga . During this period he scored three goals in 29 (sources: Die Grosse Chronik der Bundesliga, Augsburg 2013, p. 337, which shows 23 games with 3 goals in 1985/86 and 6 games without a goal in 1986/87; kicker special issue " 50 years of the Bundesliga ", p. 220, which shows a total of 30 BL games (= 29 + 1), not 30 + 1 = 31) games, but could not prevail against the competition in attack. In the 1986/87 season he moved to the then second division promoted Rot-Weiss Essen and remained there as a fixed point in the storm until 1991. His second division record: 153 games with 45 goals. After Essen's forced relegation in 1990/91 , he played again from 1991 for DSC Wanne-Eickel in the Oberliga Westfalen , but the club rose in 1993 to the Association League .
In the 1996/97 season, after a long absence from professional football, he made a comeback for a game at FC Schalke 04, which at the time had staff shortages. He was actually playing for the Schalke amateur team at the time.
