Günter Luttrop (born October 28, 1933 ) is a former German football player and coach .

Career

At VfL Altenbögge , Günter Luttrop began playing football in the youth department of the former Gauliga club. In the small industrial community at the gates of Hamm , on the north wing of the Wittener Mulde, he chased leather together with his younger brother Otto in the Am Rehbusch stadium . Sporting highlights during this time were winning the runner-up in 1959 in the amateur league Westphalia behind the champions SpVgg Beckum, as well as the games for the West German Cup.

While Günter Luttrop never made his way into the Bundesliga as an active player, unlike his brother Otto, he celebrated sporting successes with club teams as a coach in later years. From 1963 to 1968 he coached SV Bockum-Hövel (with the young Bernard Dietz ), from 1968 to 1971 he took over the coaching position at the DJK Gütersloh , which with Luttrop became Westphalia champion in 1969 and rose to the Regionalliga West. From 1971 to 1973 Günter Luttrop was employed as head coach for local rival Arminia Gütersloh , who also played in the regional league. From 1974 to 1977 he coached the TuS Ahlen club .

1977 began his involvement with DSC Wanne-Eickel , which he led confidently to the championship of the Association League Westphalia in the 1977/78 season and, after a successful promotion round, also made the jump to the 2nd Bundesliga North . In the second division, the coach reached the DSC in the 1978/79 season with 13th place in the league, but he was replaced by Toni Burghardt for the new season .

Günter Luttrop then took over the coaching position at league rivals SC Herford for the 1979/80 season . After a good first half series and 10th place at the winter break, the club got into a sporting crisis in the second half of the season. A series of five defeats in a row, among other things against the bottom three of the table Holstein Kiel , Arminia Hannover and the Wuppertaler SV , resulted in Luttrop's dismissal in April 1980. For the second division season 1980/81 he then committed Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid . However, since the single-track second division was introduced after the season, the chances of staying in the league were low and the club did not manage to stay in the league with 20th place.
