Anton "Toni" Burghardt (born June 9, 1942 in Vértesboglár ) is a former Hungarian-German football player and coach .
Player career
Burghardt's career began at VfL Leverkusen in amateur football for the Mittelrhein Association. For the last round of the old first-class Oberligen system, 1962/63, the middle runner from the soccer Oberliga Südwest , from 1. FSV Mainz 05 , received an offer as a contract soccer player. On the first day of play, August 19, 1962, the newcomer from the amateur field made his debut in the away game of Mainz at Wormatia Worms in the football league. In front of goalkeeper Horst-Dieter Strich , he directed the guest defense as a center runner. At the end of the round he had completed 15 league appearances. After the founding of the Bundesliga for the round 1963/64, for which one could not qualify, followed a year in the Regionalliga Südwest . For Mainz he was a regular player in his second season at the latest, he made 33 league games in 1963/64 and scored four goals. The 1. FC Pforzheim ( Regionalliga Süd ) was his next stop from 1964 to 1966. In the Brötzinger Tal, too, the local coach Árpád Medve relied on Burghardt's defensive skills. While the first round was clearly about staying in the league (13th place), he worked his way up to seventh place in 1966 with his teammates Siegfried Agurew , Friedemann Paulick and Dieter Rosanowski . From 1966 to 1968 the Libero played for 1. FC Saarbrücken and thus again in the Regionalliga Südwest. In 1967 he made it into the promotion round to the Bundesliga with the FCS , but the promotion did not succeed after two wins, four draws and two defeats. Burghardt played all eight promotion games.
In 1968 he moved to the Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg . There he was for two years under coach Robert Gebhardt at the side of teammates Michael Bella , Detlef Pirsig , Hartmut Heidemann and Horst Gecks regular players. In 1970/71 he was only used in two games under the new MSV coach Rudi Faßnacht . He then went to Eintracht Bad Kreuznach , which had just been promoted to the Southwest Amateur League. There the newcomer, now with Burghardt as a player, was instant champion. In the following year the championship succeeded again and Bad Kreuznach rose this time to the Regionalliga Südwest . 1973/74 Burghardt played three regional league games and then left the club.

From December 22, 1977, Burghardt took over the coaching position at the relegation-threatened second division club (Season North) Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid from Klaus Hilpert . Under his direction, the team left the relegation ranks and finished the season in 13th place in the table. Herbert Burdenski replaced him after the end of the season . Burghardt was the new season 1978/79 coach of Hannover 96 , also 2nd division north. The engagement ended after one season. Hanover ended the season in 15th place in the table, in the previous season the club, relegated from the Bundesliga in 1976, was fifth.
1979/80 he coached the DSC Wanne-Eickel , 1980/81 tennis Borussia Berlin and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen (all also 2nd League North).
From 1981 he was still the coach of several amateur clubs, including his former club as a player 1. FC Pforzheim , Viktoria Goch (1983 to 1986), the Sportfreunde Siegen (1989 to 1991 and 1992 to 1993) and the SpVgg Erkenschwick (1991 to 1992) .
