The VfL Leverkusen was a football club from the Leverkusen district Küppersteg . The club's first men's team played in the Middle Rhine League from 2014 to 2016 . The club colors of VfL Leverkusen were green-white-red.
history
In a joint meeting of TuS Manfort in 1904 and Jahn Küppersteg 1914 , the home club of the long-standing record national player Paul Janes , the merger of the two clubs was decided on July 25, 1950 in the local Sinzig to form the new club for physical exercises Leverkusen . The club had its most successful sporting period in the 1950s and 1960s. From 1950 to 1954 and 1955/56 the club played in the two-track Landesliga Mittelrhein and from 1963 to 1965 in the single-track Association League Mittelrhein .
On the last match day of the 2007/08 season, VfL Leverkusen secured a 1-1 draw in front of almost 7,000 spectators against their direct rivals SC Fortuna Köln for the time being and narrowly the championship in the Mittelrhein association league with a goal in stoppage time. Fortuna would have needed a win against Leverkusen, which led the table with one point before this "final". However, on July 10, 2008, VfL was denied promotion by the sports court of the West German Football and Athletics Association due to late submission of documents for the licensing process. Fortuna therefore played in the NRW League in the 2008/09 season , while VfL remained in the Mittelrhein Association League , in which he was unable to defend his title in the 2008/09 season and took 5th place in the final table. In 2011 he was relegated to the state league.
VfL Leverkusen managed to return to the Middle Rhine League in the 2013/14 season with the state league championship. After two years, at the end of a 2015/16 season that was accompanied by financial problems, he had to accept relegation to the state league.
Insolvency proceedings were opened against the association in February 2017 . As a consequence, the VfL stopped the game and announced its national league team. All games played were removed from the rating. The association was dissolved and its name was removed from the register. On March 24, 2017, the youth department was taken over by the successor club SC Leverkusen .

Youth football
The A-Jugend (U19) of VfL Leverkusen rose to the A-Juniors Bundesliga for the 2005/06 season , from which they were relegated at the end of the season with four wins, seven draws and 15 defeats (19 points at 26:55 goals) . One season later, under coach Karl Slickers, he was directly promoted again. In the 2007/08 season, the U-19s rose again from the A-Juniors Bundesliga with 9 points and 18: 108 goals.
