Jens Hegeler (born January 22, 1988 in Cologne ) is a German soccer player who played in the Bundesliga for Bayer 04 Leverkusen , 1. FC Nürnberg and Hertha BSC .
Career
societies
The defense and midfield played early in his career in the youth teams of the SV Westhoven , the SpVgg Porz , the youth department of the 1. FC Köln , the youth teams of PSI Yurdumspor Köln and VfL Leverkusen , before 2006, Bayer 04 Leverkusen joined. There he played since his debut on the last day of the 2006/07 season mainly for the club's regional league team. Under coach Michael Skibbe he made his Bundesliga debut on May 10, 2008 (33rd matchday), in a 2-1 win in the away game against Hansa Rostock , when he came on for the injured Lukas Sinkiewicz in the 50th minute of the game. However, his debut lasted only 33 minutes before he was sent off with a yellow-red card shortly before the end of the game .
In the second half of the 2008/09 season , Hegeler was awarded to the second division club FC Augsburg for a year and a half to collect match practice . On May 2, 2010 (33rd matchday), his first goal for FC Augsburg not only ensured a 1-0 win in the home game against TSV 1860 Munich , but also secured his team a relegation place for promotion to the Bundesliga.
After the loan period had expired, Hegeler only returned to Leverkusen for a short time before being loaned out on July 13, 2010 for two years by league rivals 1. FC Nürnberg . On the first match day, on August 21, 2010, he scored his first goal for the club in a 1-1 draw in the away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach and was one of the team's most reliable players throughout the 2010/11 season . He was one of three players who were used in all 34 league and four cup matches this season. For the 2012/13 season he returned to Leverkusen.
Hegeler crowned his debut in the Champions League on October 2, 2013 in the second group match against Real Sociedad with a 2-1 winner from a free kick in the 90th minute - five minutes after his substitution for Sidney Sam .
On May 8, 2014 it was announced that he would play for Hertha BSC in the 2014/15 season .
In January 2017, Hegeler moved to Bristol City . For the first time for his new club Hegeler came three days after his commitment against Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup . He made his league debut with the Robins on January 14, 2017 in a 3-2 home loss to Cardiff City . After not being used in the 2018/19 season, he terminated his contract in Bristol in December 2018. In the future, Hegeler wanted to concentrate on the marketing of the packing analysis method . For this purpose he founded the company "Impect GmbH" together with Stefan Reinartz .
National team
On August 11, 2009 he made his debut for the U-21 national team in the 1: 3 defeat against the selection of Turkey - as part of the tournament for the Lobanovskiy Cup in Ukraine - with a substitute for Nils Petersen in the 59th minute .
