Lukas Sinkiewicz [ ɕiɲ'kjɛvitʃ ] (born October 9, 1985 in Tychy , Poland ) is a German football player and today's coach of Polish origin.

Player career

Lukas Sinkiewicz came to Germany at the age of three and a half and began playing football in Rheinbach in 1990 at FC Flerzheim, which is based there . After a year he moved to VfL Rheinbach within the city , with whom he stayed until 1993. He went to comprehensive school in Bergheim and graduated from secondary school there. He played football in Bergheim at 1. FC Quadrath-Ichendorf ; he stayed there for three more years.

In 1996 he became a player at 1. FC Köln . He went through the youth teams there and came in the 2003/04 season as a central defender to his first four appearances in the professional team. He also played in the U-21 national team .

He was appointed to the German senior national team for the first time by national coach Jürgen Klinsmann on August 23, 2005 , and played his first international match on September 3, 2005 in the 2-0 defeat in the friendly against Slovakia in Bratislava . In the following encounter against South Africa in the Bremen Weser Stadium on September 7, 2005, he played in the starting line-up of the national team.

His contract with 1. FC Köln was extended early in January 2006 until the end of the 2008/09 season. In the U-21 European Championship game against Portugal on May 28, 2006, Sinkiewicz pulled a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and a meniscus damage in his right knee. As a result, it was canceled until the end of the year.

Sinkiewicz made his comeback on the field on January 21, 2007 against FC Augsburg and has been team captain of 1. FC Köln ever since . At this point he was used as a defensive midfielder. In the summer of 2007 he moved to the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen .

For the 2010/11 season he moved to the second division club FC Augsburg , where he signed a one-year contract. Here he only played a role in the promotion battle after a knee injury in the last ten championship games. After the Swabians rose to the Bundesliga, Sinkiewicz moved to VfL Bochum for the 2011/12 season , where he received a three-year contract. In summer 2014 he left the club. On October 16, 2014, he signed a contract with third division club SSV Jahn Regensburg until the end of the season . There he could not avert relegation to the regional league and ended his professional career in summer 2015.

Sinkiewicz has been playing at SV Lövenich / Widdersdorf in the Rhein-Erft district league since March 2019 .

Coaching career

After an interim position as assistant coach of the U21s of 1. FC Köln , he was introduced on June 12, 2018 as assistant coach of the "Zwoten" of Fortuna Düsseldorf .

Private

Sinkiewicz is a cousin of footballer Michael Gardawski .

Zdzisław Sinkiewicz, father of Lukas, was also a football player and was active in the second Polish division. He died at the age of 38 after a collapse while jogging in Bergheim .
